Flea treatment for homes that reaches the carpets and sofas

Small bites around your ankles, and something jumping off the rug when you walk barefoot. If you have a cat or dog, or you've just come back to a house that was shut up, it's probably fleas. The pet brings them in, but most live in the house itself, and that's what we treat.

About fleas

Why do fleas come back after spraying?

Find fleas, and most people bath the cat or buy the dog a flea collar. A week later the bites are still there. Treating the pet matters, but the fleas on it are a handful compared with the ones on the floor.

The fleas you see are a small part

Adult fleas live and lay eggs on the animal, and the eggs drop off wherever it walks or sleeps. The larvae hide deep in the carpet pile, under sofas and in floor cracks, then spin cocoons. So most fleas in a house aren’t on the pet at all. They’re eggs, larvae and cocoons on the floor, and if you only treat the pet, the floor keeps producing new ones.

The cocoon holds out

The cocoon is the hardest stage. Its casing protects it from most products, and the flea inside can wait a long time until it senses movement, warmth or vibration before coming out. That explains two things people find strange. Fleas increase a little a few days after spraying, and a flat that was locked up for months is full of fleas the moment someone walks in. It’s also why treatment usually takes two visits.

Ordinary insecticide stops at the surface

A supermarket powder or spray kills the fleas it touches on top of the carpet, but never reaches the larvae further down. Our spray includes a product that stops eggs and larvae developing, so even the ones that survive never grow into fleas that lay eggs. Vacuuming before and after the spray helps the product get deeper.

Pet and home in the same week

If the pet is treated this week and the house next month, the fleas just move back and forth between them. We ask that your vet sees the pet at roughly the same time as the spraying, and that its bed and blankets are washed in hot water. If the pet goes into the garden or onto the roof, its outdoor spots go into the plan too, the kind of work you’ll see in our garden videos.

Street cats and stairwells

In apartment buildings, the source is sometimes cats sleeping on the landing or by the front door. If that’s the case, the technician sprays the entrance and the doorstep and tells you how to cut down the places where cats sleep near your door.

Sometimes cats have nothing to do with it. Rats and mice carry fleas, and if one is in the light well or false ceiling, or has died somewhere out of sight, its fleas leave it to find someone else to feed on. Then the rodents have to be dealt with first, or the fleas will come back however much we spray.

The Formax method

How we get rid of fleas in your home

  1. 1

Inspecting the places your pet uses

The technician asks where your pet sleeps and spends its day, then checks carpets, sofas, the pet's bed, under furniture, and the garden or roof terrace if the pet goes out.

  2. 2

A written plan and the price before we start

We tell you the areas we'll treat, the number of visits, when the pet should be treated, how long you'll be out of the house and the final price. Nothing gets added once we've started.

  3. 3

    Vacuuming before the spray

Before the visit, vacuum the carpets, sofas and floor corners thoroughly and throw the bag away outside the house. This removes some eggs, and the vibration makes many cocoons open, so the fleas meet the product.

  4. 4

A spray that stops eggs and larvae developing

We spray carpets, sofas, under furniture and the pet's sleeping spots with a product that kills adult fleas, plus one that stops eggs and larvae growing up, so the next generation never appears.

  5. 5

A follow-up visit for fleas that hatch from cocoons

Cocoons survive spraying better than any other stage. The second visit catches the fleas that came out of them after the first visit, before they can lay eggs.

Safety

Safe for your children and pets while we treat fleas

Before any spraying you know which product we use, how long to stay out and when to come back. Nothing is left to be explained after we finish.

  • Pets out of the house during spraying

Cats and dogs go out before we spray and come back once the carpets are dry and the house is aired, ideally after their own treatment from the vet.

  • Children who play on the floor

Young children shouldn't sit on sprayed carpets until they're completely dry. If you have a baby who's crawling, let us know before the visit.

  • Registered products for home use

We use products approved for homes, and nobody except your vet should put anything on the animal itself. Cover any fish tank and switch off its pump.

Prices

How much will it cost?

The price depends on the size of the home, how many rooms have carpets and sofas, and whether the pet uses a garden or roof terrace. Send a photo of the insect or bites and the rough size of your flat on WhatsApp, say whether you have pets, and we'll reply with an initial price. Our team answers calls and WhatsApp messages in Arabic and English.

01

Type of pest

Bed bugs need two visits, cockroaches need gel and follow-up, rodents need bait stations. Each pest has its own work.

02

Size of the place

A 90 m² flat is not a villa with a garden. The price follows the area that needs treatment.

03

How bad it is

If it has only just started, there is less work. If it has spread to several rooms, the plan grows.

04

Type of property

A home is not a restaurant or a warehouse. Commercial sites have periodic contracts with different pricing.

Send the type of pest (or a photo), the place and its approximate size, and we will reply with an initial price. The final price is confirmed after the inspection and before we start.

A 5-year guarantee in writing, not just words

A 5-year guarantee on the service, written on a certificate you receive at the end of the visit. If the pest comes back at any point during that period, one WhatsApp message and we come back.

  1. 1 The guarantee is written on a certificate you receive with the invoice, stating the pest and the guarantee period.
  2. 2 If the pest comes back within the guarantee period, the follow-up visit is free, no arguments.
  3. 3 The guarantee stays valid as long as you follow the technician’s after-treatment instructions (we send them to you in writing on WhatsApp).

Common questions

Questions about flea treatment

How do I get rid of fleas in the house for good?

Flea treatment for homes only works for good when the house and the pet are treated at the same time. Vacuum carpets and sofas thoroughly, wash the pet's bedding in hot water and take the pet to a vet. Then comes a spray that stops eggs and larvae developing, and a follow-up visit. Treat only the pet and the fleas in the carpet jump straight back on.

What do flea bites look like?

A flea bite is a small, very itchy red bump, and you'll usually find several close together below the knee and around the ankles. They get mistaken for mosquito or bed bug bites, but their position on the legs gives them away. If the itching is severe, the skin breaks or you react badly, see a doctor.

I don't have a cat or a dog. Where did the fleas come from?

Possibly from a pet that lived in the flat before you, street cats sleeping on the stairs or in the garden, or rodents in the building. Cocoons can wait a long time in carpets and cracks, and the fleas come out once they sense movement or warmth. That's why flats that were shut up get bites as soon as people move back in.

Do I need to treat my cat or dog as well?

Yes. If the house is treated and the pet still has fleas, they'll start laying eggs in the carpet again. Your vet decides the right treatment; try to book it for the same week as the spraying. We treat the house, and nobody should put insecticide on an animal without a vet.

Why are there more fleas a few days after spraying?

That stage is expected. The spray works on adult fleas and larvae, but cocoons are protected, and new fleas keep emerging for days after the visit. Vacuuming daily helps them come out and touch the product. If the bites still haven't stopped after a while, the second visit deals with them.

What should I do before the technician arrives?

Vacuum all carpets, sofas and under furniture, then take the bag outside straight away. Wash the pet's bed and blankets in hot water, and clear things off the floor. If your pet has a vet appointment, keep it close to the spraying day. We'll send you the full checklist on WhatsApp before the visit.

Does the guarantee cover fleas?

Yes. The guarantee is a written certificate that comes with the invoice and states the pest and the duration. If fleas come back during the guarantee period, we treat again free of charge. The condition is that you follow the instructions we send on WhatsApp, mainly keeping your pet under a vet's care and vacuuming the carpets regularly in the first weeks after spraying.
